Scarp Wall Shannonbridge Fort
Shannonbridge, Co. Roscommon
Dates from the beginning of the 19th century, cc 1805. Built description: This is an Napoleonic era structure, a tete-de-pont or bridgehead. A large defensive complex guarding the river crossing at Shannonbridge, on the Roscommon side. The Scarp walls, which are to be conserved, are on the east side of the ditch, running east west to the north and to the south of the structure.
